Job Title: Curriculum Developer

- This is a full- time position, but we are open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate.
- The position is hybrid with three days in office and two days remote.
Summary
California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (CFAITC) is dedicated to helping students and teachers across our great state gain an understanding of how agriculture provides the daily essentials necessary to make our society and our world function. With more than 7 million students in California, it is important that these children – the next generation of consumers, parents and decision-makers – grow up with an understanding of agriculture's critical contributions to our society. The Curriculum Developer is responsible for supporting the curriculum creation needs of CFAITC.
Essential Duties
- Facilitate collaborative writing meetings to brainstorm, develop, and refine agricultural concepts into creative, engaging, and professionally designed instructional activities.
- Design and deliver ag related educational workshops to teachers and students in a variety of settings including ag and education events and conferences.
- Develop lesson plans, comprehensive units, and educational materials, and coordinate pilot testing in classrooms to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness in achieving learning objectives.
- Write content for a variety of communications and serve as proof editor on others' work.
- Assist the Curriculum Specialist in building and maintaining relationships with coalitions, associations, and partnerships.
- Assist in preparing reports and impact summaries for stakeholders, sponsors, and the CFAITC leadership team.
- Work closely and collaborate with the Program Director to ensure appropriate and impactful audiences for programs and projects.
Qualification Requirements
- Passion for ag literacy and education.
- Creative and strategic thinking to assist with the expansion of CFAITC reach and impact.
- General knowledge of the agriculture industry and education process in California.
- Valid California Teaching Credential and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience beyond student teaching.
- Extensive knowledge of the K-12 California Education Standards including Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and Content Standards.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills, including the ability to clearly and accurately communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences. This includes crafting well-organized, engaging content that aligns with educational objectives, ensuring technical accuracy, and adapting tone and style to suit the intended audience.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Basic proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and In Design preferred.
- Contribute to the success of grants and other funding sources by providing narratives, budgets, timelines and reporting/evaluation for a variety of projects.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects as assigned, including managing communication, timeline, budgets, promotion, and evaluation.
- Represent CFAITC at workshops and conferences in both the education and agriculture sectors at local, state, and national events.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to travel within California (some overnight) up to 3-5 days per month.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, lift 45 lbs., and set up and tear down exhibits.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, communication, or education-related field required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching 6-12th grades
- Experience with ag career pathway projects and/or workforce development
- Experience in farming or ranching
